JOB SUMMARY:
The Staff Accountant will work closely with the Chief Financial Officer to facilitate and apply Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP). The responsibility of this position is managing specialized work efficiently, with confidence and competence. The position requires high attention to details, concern for the correctness of work, and strong commitment to tasks completed on time. The person in this position will take work seriously, has a strong sense of duty, and is disciplined. A faster-than-average pace will be the norm for this position. Detailed, specialized work is the major focus. The person in this position will require clearly defined work, responsibilities, and reporting relationships, ongoing and thorough training opportunities to develop expertise and increase confidence. The position will provide security in a stable work environment, allowing the person to plan for, focus on and complete tasks on hand.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Companywide accounting: help with G/L account reconciliation and month-end closing, other ad hoc projectsAssist with monthly close processes including preparation of monthly journal entries, analyses, and completion of credit card/bank account reconciliations.Support Accounts Receivable: apply cash receipt, help with collection of past due balance, and process daily invoices/creditWork with Accounts Payable: vendor invoices and disbursement filing, A/P invoice matching & filing. Reconcile discrepancies by checking source materials, reconstructing probable actions, and recognizing the effect on other accounts; prepare corrective actions as needed.Complete AR/AP related tasks for multiple entitiesPerform monthly balance sheet reconciliations.Participate in month-end close activities, including preparation of journal entries, reconciliation of accounts, and sales tax computationsPerforming GL and account reconciliation and analysisHandling bank reconciliation and daily bank updatesPosting monthly accrual journal entries, fixed assets and depreciationPerform routine clerical accounting duties within a fast-paced finance department while adhering to established standardsPrepare and interpret financial summaries and provide reports to managers on a daily/weekly/monthly basisFinancial reporting, preparing supporting schedules, and analyzing data

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS:
AA or BS/BA in Accounting or related field preferred2+ years of relevant experienceExperience with QuickBooks, Smartsheet, Microsoft Excel, Outlook a plusExperience in Construction and/or Multi-Company environment a plusKnowledge of data entryStrong familiarity with Accounts Payable processBe able to prioritize workload and perform in a fast-paced and challenging environmentSpreadsheet and ERP system experience preferredKnowledge of US GAAP, and experience with the preparation and presentation of financial statements under guidelines established by US GAAPLegally authorized to work in the United States
