Sr Accountant

***This is a remote based role with travel once or twice a year to Raleigh, NC***

Job Summary

As the Sr. Accountant, you will report to the Senior Manager of Accounting and will be primarily responsible to compile and analyze financial information to prepare and submit monthly journal entries and account reconciliations. The position will be responsible for researching and implementing accounting guidance related to new transactions and accounting pronouncements. As part of this process, the Sr. Accountant will continue to develop and maintain strong research and technical skills. In this role, the Sr. Accountant will have opportunities to work with the Director of Accounting, GL and Corporate Controller on key strategic projects and transactions.

What you will contribute:
Performs analysis on financial information to ensure its accuracyPrepares various schedules to support the financial information presentedPrepares and posts journal entries and account reconciliations mainly related to various accruals/reserves, including but not limited to commissions, legal and accounts receivable CECL reserveReview capitalized software documentation for proper accounting treatmentAssists with annual, quarterly, or monthly closing proceduresCompletes special projects as assigned, such as technical accounting research and process improvementsAssists the internal and external auditors with interim reviews and year-end auditsMaintains and keeps current on knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles, SEC requirements, and other relevant accounting regulationsAvoids penalties and interest by maintaining adherence to internal controls and policy
The ideal candidate will have:
Bachelors degree in accounting or finance requiredActive CPA license, MBA or equivalent is preferred3-5 years of experience in public accounting or a public company in an accounting/finance roleStrong knowledge of US GAAP, SEC, and PCAOB guidance and regulations for publicly traded companiesExcellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to effectively tailor communications with senior management, external auditors, and various corporate departments, as necessaryStrong analytical and problem-solving skillsExcellent organizational and time management skillsAbility and desire to work in a fast-paced environmentProficient PC skills including Microsoft Office Suite or similar software
