Salary range: $6,500 - $8,829.08 per month.
Job Description
The Senior Accountant position is responsible for performing all Accounting and Payroll
processes to ensure the efficient operation of the department through exceptional execution of tasks, research, troubleshooting, and by providing excellent service and support to employees. The Senior Accountant administers payroll by verifying hours, processing earnings, and ensuring accurate deductions and benefits. This role also serves as a mentor to the team by providing training, coaching, and recognition, and leading meetings. The Senior Accountant suggests and implements department efficiencies and provides support functions to both the Accounting and Payroll teams as necessary.

Maintain exceptional internal and external member satisfaction by completing AccountsPayable, Corporate Credit Card processing, Expense Reimbursements, Dailies, CapitalExpenditures or Prepaids and other recurring processes timely and accurately whileassisting employees through multiple communication channels with accuracy andmaintaining departmental standards and service levels.Manage multi-state payroll reporting and processing by validating all items contributingto STCU employees net payroll. Ensure payroll is posted timely and accurately. Createad-hoc advance reports related to payroll and benefits. Implement efficiencies withinpayroll and benefits processingCompletes and/or reviews daily, monthly and/or quarterly GL reconciliations completedby Accountant I and IIs while providing feedback as necessary. Resolves outstandingcomplex transactions appropriately. Establish checks and balances to identify errorsand ensure accuracy in reconciliations.
Other Essential Functions
Represent the Accounting department by providing timely, professional and friendlycommunication to all we encounter, including staff, members and vendors.Support departmental initiatives and projects by contributing as an effective project teammember and complete all tasks and assignments in a timely manner.Continually cover, complete and cross train on all daily tasks assigned to allAccountants to ensure all daily tasks can be completed independently and accuratelyeach day.Proactively recommend and implement efficiencies within any task in the Accountingdepartment.Provide leadership to Accountant I and Accountant II positions by conducting training fornew employees, mentoring, assisting in problem solving, reviewing Accountants workfor accuracy and providing constructive and timely feedback about job performance.Assists leadership and payroll with support functions, suggest recommendations andcommunicate through presentations and/or reports.Serve as the point of contact for employee questions related to payroll earnings andpayroll deductions by promoting STCUs culture and maintaining relationships withemployees, leaders, and Human Resources.Ensure proper accounting controls by completing daily processes timely and accurately.
Qualifications
Education: Bachelors degree in accounting or related field required.
Job Experience: Minimum of five years experience in an accounting or finance position, preferably in a financial institution or in a public accounting/auditing position.
Software Skills: Proficient knowledge of MS Office programs including Outlook, Word, Excel and Teams.
Equipment Skills: Proficient with 10-key calculator.
Physical Demands: Must be able to regularly talk, hear and operate a computer, keyboard and mouse and occasionally lift, pull/push and carry up to 25 pounds with accommodations.
Work Conditions: Exposure to constant or intermittent sounds at a low or moderate level consistent with an office setting. Exposure to high-stress, fast-paced, deadline-oriented environment.
Travel Demands: Reliable transportation is required due to occasional travel to branches and other locations within the area.
