JOB SUMMARY:
Oversees and maintains all financial aspects, in compliance with Clemson University policies and procedures, of multiple assigned departments within the College of Architecture, Art, and Construction, including any sub-units related to the departments. Will cross-train with other members of department and complete other duties, as assigned.
JOB DUTIES:
30% - Essential - Budgeting and Analysis: Collect new year budget lines from assigned departments each year. Review information submitted by the department, ensure balanced budgets, analyze for reason-ability, and system upload. Analyze budgets by reviewing actuals in comparison to proposed new year budgets. This includes spreadsheet preparation & management for individual departmental & faculty accounts, special reporting and financial preparation for monthly meetings for the department chair or college. Advises department chairs and CAAC Business Office on financial related issues to ensure the sustainability of the department and related programs. Exercises independent judgment and /or decision making, within the assigned CAAC department(s), with regard to annual allocated budgets and appropriate spending on projects and fund groups.
25% - Essential - Financial Operations: Liaise with departmental fiscal stakeholders to monitor budgets and ensure completion of departmental fiscal responsibilities. Assist departmental staff in verification of accurate HR information, conducts monthly reviews and reports, process payroll corrections and manage approvals. Review and approve reimbursement requests, make purchases, process payroll corrections, journal entries, IDOs, and web invoices when needed. Expedite processes to reduce monthly journal errors within the current fiscal year and record findings to load future year budgets accordingly. Collaborate with fellow staff members holding fiscal responsibilities to resolve matters regarding daily operations.
25% - Essential - Financial Forecasting & Reporting: Project performance based on trend data of budgets versus actuals and sound knowledge of operations assigned. Collects, assimilates, and ensures accuracy of financial reporting for data driven decisions made by department and college administrators. Utilize reports to interpret and provide overview of current and future financial position to college Business Officers.
10% - Essential - Resource Management: Compile, evaluate, and reconcile, generated revenue to include, but not limited to, distance education, traditional summer, ETAP, and forfeited graduate admission deposits to college departments. Build comprehensive reports, examining, identifying and predicting resource trajectory for the college leadership team.
10% - Essential - Compliance: Assists in maintaining a repository of historical financial data according to state retention policy. Create and refresh detailed up-to-date financial records in compliance with University, State and Federal policies. Participates in planning, organizing, and implementing internal auditing practices. Analyzes state and/or federal budgetary procedures for fiscal requirements. Manages budget adjustments made and reconcile entries for accuracy and compliance. Verifies backup and supporting documentation follow State, University, and CU Foundation policies and procedures. This is inclusive of the Inventory system (DAT) and the Business Office's Sharepoint files/folders.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
Education - A bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, business or related field and professional experience directly related, such as accounting, auditing, finance or commercial lending.
