Position Summary

Beaudry Oil & Propane is seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Accounting Specialist to join our finance team. This role is responsible for performing a variety of general accounting tasks to support accurate financial reporting and operational efficiency. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of accounting principles, excellent analytical skills, and a proactive approach to financial problem-solving.

As a key member of the accounting department, you will assist in managing day-to-day financial operations, preparing reports, maintaining accurate records, and ensuring compliance with industry regulations. You will work closely with the Finance Manager and external partners to support month/year-end closings, tax preparation, audits, and budgeting processes.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Perform general accounting functions to ensure accurate and timely financial reportingAssist the Finance Manager in managing day-to-day accounting operationsPrepare and post journal entries in accordance with company policies and accounting standardsManage month-end and year-end close processes, including account reconciliations and financial reviewsPrepare accurate and timely financial statements and reportsReconcile company bank statements and checkbooks to ensure accuracy and integrityGenerate and distribute monthly financial reports as neededSupport tax reporting and compliance with relevant local, state, and federal regulationsCollaborate with external CPA to prepare year-end financial statements and assist with auditsReconcile assigned general ledger accounts monthly, including Accounts Payable, Fixed Assets, and Prepaid Expenses
Bachelor's degree in Accounting, or related field; equivalent business experience with 5+ years in a financial or accounting roleStrong knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)Proven proficiency with accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, SAP, or similar platforms)Advanced skills in Microsoft Office, especially ExcelExcellent written and verbal communication skillsStrong attention to detail with a methodical and accurate approach to financial dataHighly organized with strong analytical and time-management abilitiesDemonstrated ability to manage multiple deadlines and shifting prioritiesAbility to work both independently and collaboratively in a team environment
Physical Demands and Work Environment
Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computerMust be able to occasionally lift up to 15 pounds (e.g., files, records, or office equipment)Repetitive use of hands and fingers for keyboarding and data entryAbility to focus on detailed financial data and perform tasks with a high degree of accuracyStandard office environment with moderate noise levelsMay require extended hours during month-end, year-end, and audit periodsPosition may involve occasional travel for meetings, training, or professional development
