We have an exciting opportunity for a Senior Cost Accountant to join our West Hartford, CT team. The Senior Cost Accountant will have a high level of understanding of accounting concepts and standard costing to support the accuracy of the costing system. Candidate should be an independent problem solver and critical thinker. In this role, the Senior Cost Accountant shall support the business with internal controls and follow processes to maintain systems integrity.
Responsibilities
Essential Duties and Responsibilities: The Senior Cost Accountant would be responsible for the items below in both the West Hartford and Windsor locations:
•Driving changes within the organization through reliable and accurate reporting. •Maintaining item master integrity and ensuring standard costing accuracy. •Identifying and addressing reconciling items within the inventory accounts. •Identifying high-risk manufacturing variances, creating related reports, and supporting Operations efforts to remediate them. •Supporting organization-wide events, including, but not limited to, CI events and cycle counting/physical inventory. •Establishing inventory reserves and understanding related impacts to the financial statements. •Providing detailed data that supports the budgets and forecasts. •Maintaining accurate time charging through reconciliations and labor metrics reporting. •Supporting capital expenditure and fixed asset reporting within the organization. •High level of understanding of the flow of the ERP system to identify and remediate any issues. •Other duties, as required.
Qualifications
Required Knowledge, Skills & Abilities: The Senior Cost Accountant position is one to support the growth of the employee while also meeting the needs of the business. Candidates should have the following skills to be considered for the position:
•Bachelor's degree in Accounting. •Strong accounting background, with 5+ years in a manufacturing accounting environment. •Experience with Microsoft Office suite of products (Excel, Outlook, and Word) •Experience with an ERP system (JD Edwards preferred, but not necessary). •Excellent communication skills. •Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines. •Must be a problem solver and team player.
