We have an exciting opportunity for a Principal Property Accountant. This role offers the flexibility to work in a hybrid capacity from one of our office locations in Little Rock, Fort Smith, or Fayetteville AR, or Portland ME.

Position Summary

This position will be responsible for the analysis of fixed asset transactions and balances at the end of month, quarter and yearly. This position will be responsible for the monthly, quarterly and annual capital accrual processes. This position will be heavily involved in researching new accounting practices from a capital asset point of view. This position will also work closely with FP&A and Operations and take a proactive approach to help manage capital spend.

PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Develop controls to ensure proper capitalization of costs and treatment of construction in progressPrepare and file regulatory filings related to Plant Accounting (FERC filings, SSER, PBR filings, 7100 reports, Rate case requests and any others needed)Review data prepared by other property accountants in response to rate case data requestsSupport the implementation of financial and ancillary software systems pertaining to Property AccountingProvide leadership and guidance to co-workers ensuring that all deliverables are completed in accordance with associated deadlinesRecognize trends to identify material errors in Property accounts or financial reportsIdentify and coordinate data and system issues working closely with the Information Systems department on problem resolution, enhancements, testing, and data verificationReview the completion of the interim and annual audits PBC's before delivery to auditorsOther Ad-hoc requests pertaining to Property account analysis
EDUCATION AND WORK EXPERIENCE
Bachelor's in accounting requiredAt least 8 years of accounting experience8+ years of experience with property accounting preferred
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES
High attention to detail, strong organizational skills and analytical capabilityExperience in the utility industry or another asset-heavy industry preferredAbility to manage multiple and competing deadlinesAbility to take initiative and manage multiple projects successfully while maintaining an even-keel approach and commitment to deadlinesCommunicating effectively with all levels of managementHighly proficient in Microsoft ExcelExperience with Oracle, Powerplan or SAP preferred
