Staff Accountant (Property Management)

ABOUT US:

The West Side Federation for Senior and Supportive Housing, Inc. (WSFSSH) is a community-based organization responding to the need for low-cost housing. Our mission is to provide safe, affordable housing with supportive services within a residential setting which enhances the independence and dignity of each person. WSFSSH develops, manages, and provides social services in housing for low-income persons, especially those who are older, who have experienced homelessness and who live with mental illness.

Job Summary

Reporting directly to the Director of Audit and Property Management, the Junior Accountant will be responsible for entering cash receipts, bank transfers, reconciliation and reporting.

Job Duties & Responsibilities

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

Audit and Analysis Responsibilities:
Record all incoming cash receipts in MIPRecord all interbank transfers in MIPRecord all reclassification journal entries on cash receipts and bank transfersGenerate monthly Accounts Payable Aging reports for Borinquen, Fania, Mill Brook, W 108th Street, West 80's and Tres PuentesPrepare & submit PSS report for NYCHA in a timely mannerPrepare & submit DAPM report in a timely mannerPrepare CPC reports in a timely mannerAssist in preparation of RPIE reportsAssist with reconciliation of resident and subsidiary ledgers in Real pageAdjust HPD and NYCHA subsidy payments in Real Page in a timely mannerPrepare bank reconciliation statements, as requested. Other duties, as assigned
Required Knowledge Skills & Abilities
Excellent organizational skills and ability to manage multiple projectsAbility to establish and maintain effective working relationships both internally and externallyEffective verbal and written communication skillsAble to work independently and with the highest levels of integrity.Excellent computer skills, including a high level of expertise with Excel.Experience with Sage MIP Fund Accounting and RealPage preferred.
Required and Preferred Education, Experience and Credentials
A bachelor's degree in accounting with 2+ years of related experience is required
Physical Requirements
Physical demands include primarily required to sit for extended periods at a desk using standard office equipment with occasional walking and standing, using a computer keyboard and mouse, and lifting light items as needed.
