Job Description Summary
The Senior Accountant will assist the Assistant Controller and Controller in managing the daily operations of the general accounting, accounts payable, grant management, and cash management functions of the University. The position works closely with the University's department administrators as well as the Office of Sponsored Programs, Accounts Payable and Payroll staff to ensure financial transactions are properly initiated, recorded and reconciled.

Essential Duties
Reconcile the post award accounting for grants including but not limited to billing, drawdowns, and financial reporting on federal grants. Prepare tax return schedules for the Form 990, Form 990T, and state returns.Preparation of financial reporting and surveys including but not limited to NSF HERD, SEFA, NCAA and NBRF. Assist in the preparation of audit schedules, financial statements, footnotes, and related supporting documentation for the year-end audit.Collaborate in the preparation of monthly financial reports for management.Prepare complex reconciliations for general ledger accounts, identify, and research errors and process adjusting entries as neededProvide technical advice and problem resolution for financial community on varied accounting issues.Serve as a backup for accounting operational activities including the input and processing of invoice payment, travel, P-card, employee, and other vendor disbursements.Serve as back up for wire transfers and ACH transactions Develop and maintain effective working relationship with financial aid, grant, and other administrative offices.Special projects and other duties as assigned
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in accounting or a closely related field with minimum 4-6 years' experience with a strong knowledge of and experience with account reconciliations.Ability to manage multiple deadlines and competing priorities efficientlyMust be highly detail-oriented with strong analytic, problem-solving, financial, and organizational skillsMust be able to work independently and in a team environment.Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite, intermediate Excel skills (i.e. Pivot tables, Vlookup, etc.)Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to interact with students and employees of the University with tact, diplomacy, and discretion.Commitment to excellence and to providing the highest level of customer service and responsiveness.Higher education experience preferredMust be comfortable learning and using cloud-based complex financial system
Work Environment
Typical office setting with extensive sitting and computer workAbility to travel around campus for meetings and other work related events
