Position Summary:
We are seeking a strategic and results-oriented Accounting Director to lead and evolve our accounting operations. This pivotal leadership role ensures the accuracy and integrity of all financial reporting, compliance with GAAP and federal regulations, and alignment of accounting practices with corporate growth and modernization goals.

As the Accounting Director you will bring deep experience in the GovCon environment, a strong command of federal compliance standards, and a collaborative leadership style to drive continuous improvement across teams, systems, and processes.
Day to Day Responsibilities:Accounting Operations LeadershipDirect all accounting functions, including general ledger, project accounting, payroll accounting, accounts payable/receivable, and fixed assets.Manage and ensure timely execution of month-end and year-end close processes and preparation of accurate financial statements.Maintain and continuously enhance internal controls, accounting policies, and procedures in compliance with GAAP and DCAA standards.Audit and Compliance ManagementLead the preparation for and execution of financial audits, incurred cost submissions, and other government-required filings.Serve as the primary liaison with external auditors, tax advisors, and regulatory agencies, including the DCAA.Ensure ongoing compliance with federal acquisition regulations (FAR, DFARS) and federal cost accounting standards (CAS).Strategic and Growth SupportProvide accounting leadership and due diligence support for mergers and acquisitions, including post-transaction financial integration.Support the development of indirect rate structures and cost models to align with strategic goals.Partner with FP&A and senior leadership to support scenario planning, long-term financial strategy, and enterprise reporting needs.Team Development & Systems OptimizationLead, mentor, and develop a high-performing accounting team with a strong culture of accountability and continuous improvement.Champion the optimization and effective use of Unanet GovCon ERP, ensuring accurate project costing and reporting.Collaborate cross-functionally with contracts, HR, and operations to ensure financial alignment and transparency across departments.Required Qualifications:Bachelors degree in accounting, finance, or related field; CPA required.10+ years of progressive accounting experience including 5+ years in a management role within a government contracting environment.Strong expertise in GAAP, FAR, CAS, and DCAA audit requirements.Hands-on experience with Unanet GovCon ERP.Prior experience leading and developing teams.Demonstrated ability to manage competing priorities, and drive process and systems improvements.
This position does not offer relocation and only qualified candidates within a commutable distance to the office location (Arlington, VA) will be considered.

Preferred Qualifications:
Experience leading system implementations or enhancements.Excellent interpersonal, communication, and presentation skills with the ability to engage effectively with executive leadership.
