Summary
The Accountant III serves as a senior-level resource within the accounting team, providing expert guidance, support, and oversight on complex accounting tasks and processes. This role ensures the integrity and accuracy of financial records, supports advanced reconciliation and reporting functions, and contributes to the development and improvement of accounting procedures. The Accountant III acts as a mentor to junior staff and plays a key role in maintaining strong internal controls and audit readiness.

Accountant Responsibilities
Assist in the development of the budgetWork in conjunction with senior management to correct and minimize findings from various internal and external audits and exams to maintain high compliance standardsReview, investigate, and correct errors and inconsistencies in financial entries, documents, and reportsPrepare and review financial statements, Call Report and regulatory reports for Senior ManagementDirect determination of depreciation schedule to apply to capital assets, evaluation of accrued expenses and pre-paidsOversee and approve final reconciliations in a timely manner in accordance to policies and procedures.Act as a primary liaison with AUX (third party vendor)Responsible for the training and development of department staffAssist in making appropriate staffing and service recommendationsReview and recommend process changes to increase efficiency and better serve the memberTroubleshoot and resolve issues related to service delivery channelsResolve member complaintsAct as a subject matter expert by assisting staff as needed
Analyst Responsibilities
Assist management in analyzing financial statements from Wisdom which summarize the credit unions profit and loss from branches and products offered to report budget variance results on a monthly, quarterly, and annual basis.Analyze accruals (real estate taxes, ALLL, PTO, Incentive, and MSR) for correct amount Make recommendations to management regarding cost saving or profit generating opportunities and profitability improvements strategies.Ensure the validation of the data between Symitar, Wisdom, FICS, CUERY, ARCU, Abrigo, and Visible Equity.Assist in developing complex profit plans, operating records, and financial statements

Education and/or Experience
Experience- 2 to 5 years related experience
Education- 4-year degree or completion of a specialized course of study OR 5 years of related experience.
Language Skills
Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from managers, members, and the general public.
Mathematical Skills
Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, and volume.
Reasoning Ability
Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form. Must have a comprehensive knowledge of accounting procedures, principles, and standards. Possess comprehensive knowledge of reconciliation.
Computer Skills
To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of software used to perform accounting. Spreadsheet software and Word Processing software.
