Job Summary/Basic Function:
The position of Staff Accountant, under the supervision of the Associate Controller, is to provide general accounting support and provide efficient and effective customer services in a complex financial environment. This position provides support to the payroll, accounts payable, and accounts receivable functions of the College.

Accounts Payable (10%)
Serve as backup for other staff to ensure uninterrupted processing of weekly ACH/check runsMonitor and maintain the prepaid expense workpaperDownload monthly check activity from the bank and reconcile the outstanding checks in BannerPerform monthly direct pay reconciliation, booking direct pays in BannerProcess and reconcile foreign wire paymentsMonitor check aging and submit unclaimed property to the applicable stateMaintain AP schedules, reconciling balance to general ledger on a quarterly basis
Payroll (40%)
Serve as backup for other staff to ensure uninterrupted processing of biweekly/monthly payrollAssist payroll associate with travel reimbursement processingDownload monthly check activity from the bank and reconcile outstanding payroll checks in BannerPrepare year end payroll, benefit, and vacation time entries/accrualsPrepare annual reconciliation of payroll expense for the auditAssist budget office with salary reconciliationsReview payroll/benefit holding accounts on a quarterly basis, investigating any variances
Monitor and reconcile the College's PCARD credit card purchasing system (20%)
Track users with missing receipts/coding and send reminder emailsTrack transactions with missing supervisor approval and send reminder emailsDownload monthly transaction data and load data into the general ledger system (Banner)Track foreign credit card purchase transactions for the annual tax returnConduct quarterly internal audit of transactions to ensure compliance with Pcard policiesReconcile the card holding account in Banner, assuring a 0 balance after statement

Cash Receipts/AR (20%)
Process over the counter receipts, preparing deposit slip for the bank or utilizing mobile deposit.Process petty cash requestsTrack nursery school receivable, payment plans, and receipts utilizing Banner and FACTS platform.Download and reconcile monthly credit card receipt data to deposits and upload revenue to Banner
Assist with year end tax forms including (10%)
Forms 1099W2s and W3 form1042s forms
Perform all other duties and responsibilities as assigned by the supervisor. This may include
attendance of and participation in required training for this role or cross training for other accounting procedures.

Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelors degree in accounting or related field which can be substituted for adequate years of professional experience.

Preferred Qualifications:
Bachelors degree in accounting or related field, experience in higher education industry

When determining and establishing hiring rates or recruitment ranges for a position, the College considers a number of factors including the budget for the position, the range of the grade, the external market for the position or similar positions, level and scope of responsibilities, required education, skills and relevant experience as well as internal equity. All salary offers must have the prior approval of the Office of Human Resources.

The anticipated hiring or recruitment range for this position is $60,000 to $65,000.
