Qualifications

Required Qualifications and Selection Criteria:

  • Bachelor's degree with an emphasis in Accounting, Business or related field; OR a combination of related education and experience in gift, fund, and/or grant administration to equal four years.
  • Strong commitment to customer service
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to establish and maintain relationships at all organizational levels
  • Demonstrated ability to problem solve, analyze alternative solutions, and recognize opportunities for improvement
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Ability to gather, organize and present data in a concise and meaningful way
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Advanced user of Microsoft Word
  • Intermediate user of Microsoft Excel
  • Ability to take initiative and function independently and as part of a team
  • Ability to handle information with discretion and confidentiality

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in gift, fund and/or grant administration in a non-profit or university environment.

About the Job

What You'll Do:
This entry-level professional position is responsible for a wide range of fund administration and accounting activities requiring the application of federal laws, IRS guidelines and the University and Foundation principles and policies. This position manages the creation of and changes to fund accounts, and prepares various management reports while providing excellent customer service. This position also performs other duties as assigned including back up for various accounting functions.

Specific Responsibilities:

  • Reviews, analyzes and executes documentation summarizing specific gift designations by donors; including customized gift agreements, fund agreements and charitable grant agreements. This involves working with development staff to create fund and/or gift agreements that meet donor designation and applicable federal laws, IRS guidelines, and the University and Foundation principles and policies, identifying concerns with agreements and consulting with the VP of Finance and Office of General Counsel, setting up the appropriate fund accounts and working with gift administration staff to coordinate entry of initial gifts. (30%)
  • Serves as liaison for development staff and accounting team, including researching and answering questions regarding fund administration, creating fund reports, and assisting customers with coordination of required paperwork. (30%)
  • Manages fund accounts by analyzing and processing various requests. This involves initial fund establishment, fund revision requests, authorized signer, transfers between funds and other related requests. (30%)
  • Assist with miscellaneous projects and tasks in the department including back up for accounting functions such as daily bank reports, reconciling monthly purchasing card transactions, and entry of non-gift transactions. (10%)
