Accounts Senior Accountant (Senior Accountant)
Full-time position available with the Finance Department, Accunts Division ocated at 414 E. 12th St.
Salary Range: $5,173-$7,759/month
Normal Work Days/Hours: Monday-Friday, 8:00 a.m.-5:00 p.m. * Episodic telework available

- Receives, processes, and maintains records on City contracts.
- Reviews contracts for necessary attachments (proof of insurance, etc.).
- Researches the budget ledger to ensure there are sufficient funds to encumber contracts.
- Updates the e-Builder project management system.
- Processes purchase orders and change orders related to contracts.
- Reviews ordinance requests involving revenue estimates and/or expenditures to verify that funds are available and unencumbered to carry out the ordinances' purpose.
- Reviews the budget ledger for existing funds or calculating fund balances.
- Reviews ordinances for proper accounting fields and works with departments to correct any inaccurate information.
- Enters and posts budget amendment journals for ordinances (both revenue and expenditure budget ledgers).
- Assists internal departments and external suppliers with questions and issues.
REQUIRES an accredited Bachelor's degree in accounting, business administration, or a related subject area and 5 years professional experience in governmental or business accounting, including 2 years of intermediate professional accounting at the level of Accountant II; OR an equivalent combination of qualifying education and experience. Preference given for an accredited Bachelor's dgree in Accounting or Business Management, and CPA accreditation.

The minimum education requirement for positions that allow for experience equivalency for an accredited degree is a high school diploma. Unless otherwise specified, an accredited degree must be obtained from a college or university listed with the U.S. Department of Education and recognized by the U.S. Secretary of Education.
For positions with a salary grade of EX6 or higher that require an accredited degree, qualifying professional experience must be obtained AFTER the accredited degree is obtained.
Successful completion of a pre-employment criminal history/background check is required for all positions. Some positions require a post offer drug screen and/or physical.
If appointed, non-residents must obtain residency inside Kansas City, Missouri's city limits within nine months.
