Job Summary

This position assists with providing high level financial management and accounting work for our department. In collaboration with the Senior Officer, assists with managing the Admin Accounting - Accounts Payable department by ensuring that Federal, State, and other funds used for payments are accurate given DEED's complex budget, projects, and chart of accounts. This position ensure payments are appropriately cost allocated as well as reconciles and processes transactions are through SWIFT (StateWide Integrated Financial Tools). This position will assist with complex problems such as past due or disputed vendor accounts, cost allocations, insufficient funds, purchasing violations, backorders, and other issues. They ensure state purchasing card payments are timely made, business expense reimbursements are done timely and accurately including, cash advances, and employee relocation expenses.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications

To receive credit for your education and experience, your resume should clearly describe how you meet each minimum and/or preferred qualification listed, including dates of employment.

Two (2) years* of professional experience in accounting, financial management, or grants management.

*Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, business, or other closely related field as determined by the agency may substitute one (1) year of experience; master's degree substitutes for eighteen (18) months of experience.

Applicants that meet the above minimum qualification will be further evaluated on the following:

  • Experience applying generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP) and practices sufficient to coordinate various phases of accounting functions.
  • Ability to analyze and interpret complex fiscal reports and records for adherence and conformance to federal laws, state statutes, and department policies.
  • Experience using Microsoft Office products such as Word and Excel, including use of pivot tables and advanced formulas such as VLOOKUP or similar functions.
  • Communications skills that demonstrate the ability for clear and persuasive presentations.

Preferred Qualifications

Experience with reviewing and processing billings and invoices.

Experience with Statewide accounting systems (SWIFT and OBIEE) or similar software (SAP and PeopleSoft).

Skill in organization to manage workload, competing priorities, and meet strict deadlines.

Experience in reviewing accounting policies and procedures to help ensure compliance.
