Job Summary:
Under the direction, duties will include general accounting tasks including, but not limited to account reconciliations, chargebacks, transfers of expense, billing and cash posting orders; process journal entries for month-end and year-end closing processes, and support for campus departments for general ledger transactions.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- The incumbent will be reconciling general ledger and sub-ledger accounts for banking, accounts payable, sundry accounts receivable including payroll related billings and labor cost distribution.
- Mainly responsible for ensuring the cash amounts in the general ledger reconcile with bank balances.
- Lead and coordinate meetings with campus departments to clear reconciling items. Monitors account balances, performs aging analysis, and prepares write-off recommendation according to CSU policy and campus guideline.
- Properly document collection efforts and reporting requirements.
- Work closely with payroll services for employee related receivable and write-offs.
- Process campus chargeback journals, transfer of expenses, revenues, and funds in accordance with CSU polices and campus guidelines.
- Record stale dated checks and cancelled warrants.
- Serve as the primary contact person for the campus departments on general ledger transactions and fund management.
- Decentralized Access Control System (DACS) administrator for the University.
- Serve as the key contact person in troubleshooting DACS requests and interacts with campus departments and ITS to resolve issues.
- Assist with confirming all pertinent data is entered into PeopleSoft system, perform reviews and analysis as needed, and prepare reports as part of Month-End, Quarter-End, and Year-End closing process.
- Quarterly review, analysis and posting of financial set aside amounts for student tuition and fee revenues.
- Sales and use tax remittance on campus activities, including pharmacy.
- Complete special assignments and other duties as requested from Associate Controller and University Controller.
Minimum Qualifications: Required Education and Experience
- Equivalent to a bachelor's degree with a major in accounting, business administration, finance or a closely related field OR a combination of education and experience which provides the required knowledge and abilities.

Preferred Qualifications
- 2 to 3 years previous general accounting or business experience
- An understanding of general accounting concepts
- Experienced with ERP systems (general ledger module)
- Effective oral and written communication skills
- Microsoft Windows Office experience including Word, Excel, and Outlook email software
- Peoplesoft Enterprise Systems
- Experience with account reconciliations (i.e. bank and balance sheet accounts)
- Experience with month-end and year-end close processes
- Previous experience in higher education
Compensation and Benefits:
Anticipated Hiring Range: $4,557 - $5,000 per month
Classification Salary Range: $4,039 - $7,568 per month

Academic year schedule: Monday through Friday (8:00 am - 5:00 pm), some evenings/weekends.
Summer schedule: Monday through Thursday (7:00 am - 5:30 pm), some evenings/weekends.
This position is a "designated position" in the California State University's Conflict of Interest Code. The successful candidate accepting this position is required to file Conflict of Interest forms subject to the regulations of the Fair Political Practices Commission.
