Salary Range : $4,452 - $8,592/Monthly

Work Schedule : Full-Time, Monday - Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.; exempt classification.

Essential Functions : Under the general direction of the Associate Vice President, Facilities Planning, Design and Construction, the incumbent independently performs a full range of professional accounting work in support of the Facilities Planning, Design and Construction department and oversees the day-to-day operation of all accounting related issues. The incumbent is responsible for developing and maintaining internal monthly budget status reports; maintaining current and budget year positions; verifying the current year adjustments as posted by the PeopleSoft Financial System. Manage budgets and funding for campus construction projects and the department, requiring coordination with other campus departments. Perform accounting functions for the department and for construction projects. Responsible for the design, execution, and effectiveness of a system of internal controls which provides reasonable assurance that operations of the department are effective and efficient, assets and safeguarded, financial information is reliable, and applicable laws, regulations, policies, and procedures are complied with. The incumbent reviews and recommends changes on the financial reporting structure of all Facilities Planning, Design and Construction department and Special Funds. The incumbent examines financial documents for completeness, accuracy, and conformance with established policies and procedures and generally accepted accounting standards; reconciles reports and financial data with financial statements on file; resolves problems associated with incorrect entries, deviations from established procedures, and other inconsistencies with generally accepted accounting principles; and prepares routine financial reports and statements.

Required Qualifications & Experience : Equivalent to a bachelor's degree with a major in accounting, business administration, finance, or a closely related field. Equivalent to two years of progressively responsible professional accounting experience. Thorough knowledge of financial accounting methods, procedures, and practices; arithmetic; and governmental financial record-keeping methods. Must have strong organizational skills; and a high proficiency in Microsoft office including Excel, Word, Outlook, and PowerPoint. The ability to coordinate multiple tasks simultaneously in a fast-paced environment and the ability to prioritize workload. Ability to apply accounting procedures and practices to the analysis of complex accounting problems; analyze and interpret accounting data; prepare clear, accurate financial statements and reports; utilize problem-solving techniques in finding solutions to complex accounting problems; understand and apply applicable rules, regulations, policies, and procedures; work independently; make sound decisions and recommendations regarding accounting activities; and establish and maintain effective working relationships with others. Incumbent must demonstrate an interest or ability in working in a multicultural/multiethnic environment. A background check (including a criminal records check) must be completed satisfactorily before any candidate can be offered a position with the CSU. Desired Qualifications : Substantive professional experience in managing and preparing budgets and preparing financial reports. Preferred knowledge of PeopleSoft.
